Birthdays, company lunches, farewell dinners, Erasmus reunions. Eating well in a group of ten is mostly a question of choosing the right room and the right menu. Here is how it works at Capa na Baixa, with prices.

Booking for ten is not like booking for two. Someone has to agree the menu, someone has to count the vegetarians, and someone has to explain the bill to the person who only drank water. In a city that fills up on Friday and Saturday nights, the easy way out is a restaurant that plans for groups: set prices, set menus and drinks already counted in.
That is the logic behind the group menus at Capa na Baixa, the Capa Negra family’s house on Praça de Dom João I. There are four of them, from €25 to €40 per person. Every one includes drinks and coffee, and VAT is included in the price.
Capa na Baixa seats more than 120 people across the main dining room, an esplanade and an interior garden, a rarity in the centre of Porto, right next to the Teatro Rivoli. When you book a group you can say whether you prefer the hall or the garden; the team then confirms what is available on your date.
All prices are per person, with VAT included. Drinks are offered as alternatives: you pick one of the options listed.
The process is deliberately simple:
For groups of eight or more, especially on Friday and Saturday nights, it is worth booking ahead: by email at capanabaixa@gmail.com, by phone on +351 223 321 020, or through TheFork for smaller tables.
The wine measure. The menu document lists wine as “1/2 pp” without a unit. Ask the team how much that is per person before you promise anyone a bottle.
Dietary needs. The €25 menu includes a vegetarian francesinha, and the €30 and €40 menus list a vegetarian dish. For the €35 menu or any allergy, ask when you book.
Dessert. The €25 menu lists coffee but no dessert; the other three include dessert and coffee.
